| Variety of fiber lengths | Uniform | Uniform fiber length and denier |
| Easier with cutting cottoner equipment | Easier with tearing cotton equipment (rayon tends to dull knives in cutting operation) | Non-fluorescent |
| Absorbent - will absorb 22 times its weight in moisture, and moisture regain is 8.0% under normal conditions | Absorbent - will absorb 22 times its weight in moisture, and moisture regain is 9.0% to 11.0% under normal conditions | Non-absorbent - will neither introduce into or extract moisture from bottle, and moisture regain is .4% under normal conditions |
| Reoxygenates faster in bottle, resulting in a dryer environment | Most commonly used in bottling of tablets and capsules | Most commonly used in bottling of soft-gel capsules |
